# Program settings reference

> Programs · Any team member · Program → Settings · Every enforced field · Canonical page: https://kindlinghq.com/docs/program-settings/

A reference for the fields on a program's settings page, in the order they appear. For a walkthrough of creating one, see [Create a program](/docs/create-a-program/).

## Where to find it

Open the program from Programs and click **Settings**. Any team member can edit a program. Changes take effect when you click **Save changes**; the button stays disabled until something has changed. Saving does not change the program's status.

A program still in Draft also shows **Edit & activate** on its page. That reopens the creation wizard; its **Save & activate** button sets the program Active and opens applications. Use Settings for everything else.

## Program status

A program holds one of four status values.

| Status | What it means today |
| --- | --- |
| Draft | Public page returns not found. Applications are closed. The program page shows "Not yet visible to advocates" and Edit & activate |
| Active | Public page is live. New applications are accepted while applications are open |
| Paused | New applications are rejected. The public page still renders |
| Closed | Public page returns not found. New applications are rejected. Permanent |

Below the status is the applications value, **Open** or **Closed**. When closed, the public page shows "Not currently accepting applications" in place of the apply button.

**Close program permanently** is the last control in this section. It asks you to confirm, then sets the status to Closed and forces applications closed. This cannot be undone; there is no reopen. Closing does not cancel work in flight: approved earnings still pay out on the next payout run, and pending submissions and applications remain reviewable.

## Brand template

Shown only when your workspace has brand templates. Pick one to style the public program page, or none for the Kindling default.

## Hero content overrides

Shown only when a brand template is selected. Blank fields fall back to the template's defaults; if the template has none, the headline falls back to the program name, the subheadline to "by <your company name>", and the button to "Apply Now".

| Field | Limit |
| --- | --- |
| Headline | 200 characters |
| Subheadline | 500 characters |
| CTA button text | 50 characters |

## Basic information

| Field | Accepted values | Controls |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Program name | 3 to 100 characters | How the program appears everywhere |
| Program URL | Read-only. Cannot be changed after creation | The public page at `app.kindlinghq.com/p/slug` |
| Description | Up to 500 characters, markdown | Summary on the public program page |

## Content guidelines

| Field | Accepted values | Controls |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Guidelines | 50 to 5,000 characters, required, markdown | The terms advocates accept on applying, and your basis for review |
| Example post URL | Valid URL, optional | Linked from the public program page as a reference |

## Platforms and rules

| Field | Accepted values | Controls |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Allowed platforms | One or more of LinkedIn, Twitter / X, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube | Which platforms a submission can come from. Enforced when an advocate submits |
| Min days between posts | 1 to 90, whole days | Enforced when an advocate submits, measured from their last submission to this program of any status. They are told how many days remain |
| Post retention (days) | 7 to 365, whole days | Shown to advocates on the public page as "Keep posts for N days". Not checked automatically |

## Payment configuration

| Field | Accepted values | Controls |
| --- | --- | --- |
| CPM rate ($) | Above $0, up to $100 | Pay per 1,000 reported impressions |
| Max payout per post ($) | Above $0, up to $10,000 | Ceiling on any one post. Enforced at approval |

Two further fields, monthly advocate cap and payout threshold, are recorded on the program but are not applied to payouts today.

## Reward menu

| Field | Accepted values | Controls |
| --- | --- | --- |
| Reward types | At least one of Cash, Gift card, Charity donation, Company-defined reward | What an advocate can choose to be paid in when they apply |
| Charity minimum per approved post ($) | At least $5. Shown when Charity donation is enabled | Your max payout per post must be at least this figure; saving fails otherwise |
| Company-defined catalog | Shown when Company-defined reward is enabled | The named perks you fulfill yourself. Each redemption carries a flat $25 platform fee |

## What determines a payment

At approval: reported impressions ÷ 1,000 × CPM rate, capped at the max payout per post. The CPM rate and cap in effect at the moment of approval are the ones used, so a rate change applies to every approval after it and to nothing before it.

The estimate attached to a pending submission is calculated when the advocate submits and can differ from the approved amount. The approved amount is the one that pays.
